As described in an earlier post, I was thrilled to receive Cat Bordhi's new sock book. So thrilled, in fact, that I wound up with two durn books. I first ordered the book from amazon, but was dismayed by the estimated shipping date, which was listed as 4 to 6 weeks away. Having learned on Ravelry (love Ravelry!) that BMFA had the book, I ordered it from them. Notice I didn't say "and canceled my amazon order." But I thought I had all the time in the world to cancel. After all, amazon said it wouldn't ship for 4 to 6 weeks. Ha! Imagine my surprise when amazon came though rather more quickly than estimated.
I thought about returning it to amazon, or even selling it on ebay to help feed my yarn addiction. But after reading Ravelry board posts and learning that so many people really want to get their hot little hands on it, I decided to give one away.
CONTEST!
Ever since my Ravelry invitation came through, I've been debating whether to abandon my blog. I don't think many people read it. Maybe I should just have Ravelry? I've enjoyed the blog, and I'm not desperate for readership, but if I write a blog in the forest and no one reads it should I forget about it?
I'll give away my extra copy of Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters to the commenter to this blog entry who offers the best reason why I should continue to blog. I'll consider all who make a comment by Friday August 31 at 8 pm Eastern. Daughters #1 and #2 will be the judges, and we'll announce the winner by Sunday September 2.

Just when I think that no one ever reads my blog, someone will leave a great comment or email me about something I've written. I've decided that if one person benefits from one posting once in a while, it's worth my time. Ravelry is great, but you have to be a member to see what someone is working on, or what someone is saying. With a blog, anyone can see what you are doing.
Because blogging makes your thoughts and experiences part of human consciousness by putting them all out there in ether, available to anyone who finds your blog, even if it's through some strange Google search term that has nothing to do with what you're talking about. It's the world's largest community project.
Because without your blog I would never have seen the lovely picture of your enormous dog and tiny kitten! You made me smile :-)
now I don't think that my reason is brilliant in anyway, but now that I know of your blog, it will be added to my favorites and I'll check in every day. If you quit blogging, I'll be sad when there is never anything new :)
